On each check, the plugin compares the last post creation time to the configured Post Creation Time Frame. When a queued post is due, AutoPost AI: Selects the oldest pending queue item. Generates the post body with GPT 5.4. Retrieves Pixabay images and uploads available images to the Media Library. Inserts up to 5 inline images. Appends the CTA when it is enabled and both CTA text and URL are present. Creates the WordPress post with the configured Draft or Published status. Attempts to generate a Stability AI featured image when a Stability AI API key is available. Falls back to an available Pixabay featured image when Stability AI does not provide one. Updates the queue record and the last-created timestamp. Sends the optional automatic-creation notification email when configured. WordPress cron depends on site traffic or another system that triggers wp-cron.php. Low-traffic sites may need a real server cron job to trigger WordPress cron reliably. Images Pixabay inline images The free version uses Pixabay for inline image retrieval. Search terms are derived from the post category or extracted content keywords. The plugin attempts to use 6 images per post workflow: up to 5 for inline placement and 1 as a possible featured-image fallback. If Pixabay does not return enough images, the bundled placeholder image can be used for missing inline slots. Stability AI featured image When a Stability AI API key is saved, the plugin can generate the featured image with Stable Image Core. Auto-created featured images use a fixed 3:2 aspect ratio. The featured-image prompt is built from the post title and category context. The prompt logic avoids generic camera and photography equipment unless the title itself is about photography, cameras, filmmaking, videography, or related equipment. Standalone Image Generator The Image Generator supports these aspect ratios: 16:9 1:1 3:2 2:3 The optional file name is sanitized and saved as a WebP-style media file name by the plugin workflow. Content and Link Guardrails AutoPost AI applies cleanup and validation around AI-generated content: Post titles are normalized and sanitized before use. Markdown markers and code fences are removed from generated output when needed. Em dash and en dash characters are replaced during cleanup. Generated post HTML is cleaned before insertion into WordPress. Internal links are limited to a maximum of 2 per generated post. The plugin attempts to keep at least 1 viable external informational reference. External-link checks use cached validation and may be affected by remote-site blocking, firewalls, rate limits, or temporary outages. Featured-image prompts include negative terms intended to reduce unwanted stock-camera imagery. Data Storage and Permissions The plugin dashboard and AJAX actions are restricted to administrators with the manage_options capability. AutoPost AI stores queue data in the custom database table: {prefix}autopost_ai_queue The queue stores the topic, category information, status, topic creation date, post creation date, and publication date. Plugin settings are stored in WordPress options, including API keys, post creation settings, prompt text, last post creation time, and Stability AI image preferences. The plugin also adds _autopost_ai_queue_id post meta to created posts so queue records can be matched reliably to their WordPress posts. On uninstall, the plugin clears its scheduled cron hook. Queue and plugin option deletion is controlled by the plugin’s autopost_ai_remove_data_on_uninstall setting/filter. When removal is enabled, the custom queue table and plugin options are deleted. Third-Party Services AutoPost AI connects to third-party services when a feature requires that service.
