The six intent slices above are the lenses we've found most useful for app evaluation across the Atlassian Marketplace marketplace. Each one answers a different decision question: "free" is for the cost-conscious evaluator who wants no commitment risk; "highest-rated" rewards consistency across reviewers; "most-reviewed" surfaces established apps with deep user-base maturity; "newest" spots early-mover differentiation before incumbents catch up; "oldest" identifies long-tenured listings that have survived API + policy evolution; the platform-specific badge intent (where applicable) tracks Atlassian Marketplace's own quality certification. The same six lenses apply across every platform in the program so cross-marketplace comparisons stay apples-to-apples.
Within each list, ranking uses a Bayesian-ish blend of average rating × natural log of review count. The blend formula is rating × ln(reviewCount + 1); the +1 keeps the score finite for apps with zero reviews, which damps high-rating-low- review outliers without excluding them outright. Apps with broad adoption can still rank competitively even at slightly lower star averages because the log-of-review-count factor weights established review bases. AppRanks does not editorially promote or demote apps based on advertiser or partnership status; the formula is uniform across the platform and applied identically to every app in the tracked set.
Each list refreshes daily from the canonical Atlassian Marketplace listing on a 12-24 hour cycle. When the source marketplace removes an app from a category (delisting, policy action, or category restructure), the next snapshot reflects the removal and the historical position trajectory marks the gap. The hub is the entry point: pick the intent that matches your evaluation question, drill into the ranked list, then click through to each app's audit + compare surfaces for the full quality breakdown.
Each marketplace has its own curated set of best-of lists, refreshed daily.
